Blur and Smart Blur

Updated this week

Smart Blur automatically hides sensitive information during recording. You can also blur content manually after capture by adding blur shapes while annotating.

Smart Blur is a Pro feature.

Smart Blur during capture

Select Smart Blur in the capture toolbar while recording. A panel opens with all content categories.

Toggle on the types you want hidden:

  • Email addresses

  • Numbers

  • Common names

  • Long text

  • Form fields

  • Table rows

  • Images

Select Select all to blur every category at once.

Select Apply to confirm. Haiku detects and blurs matching content across every screenshot as you capture.

Select Select elements to manually click on specific elements in the page to blur instead of using categories.

Manual blur in annotate mode

To blur a specific area on a single screenshot, use the Blur tool in the annotate mode.

  1. Open a haiku and select the Options menu.

  2. Select Annotate.

  3. Select Blur from the annotate toolbar.

  4. Click and drag over the area you want to hide.

Use this for anything the auto blur didn't catch, or for one-off cases where only part of a screenshot needs to be hidden.

Removing a blur

Select the blurred area and Delete to remove it. Or select Clear all in the annotate toolbar to remove all annotations from the screenshot, including blur.
